Indian River County Health Department is located in beautiful Indian River CountyLink to Indian River County Website in a new window The U.S. Census Bureau reports Indian River County as having an estimated population of over 138,000 in 2010 - and our population is expected to continue increasing.  Working under the Florida Department of Health, Indian River County Health Department (IRCHD) is part of a statewide system of coordinated county health departments formed under Chapter 154 of the Florida Statutes.  The health department receives additional funding from a variety of sources, including the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners, Indian River County Hospital District, and the United Way. Our staff consists of licensed medical and environmental professionals, qualified support staff and interpreters, all dedicated to providing you with excellent service.  Additionally, we have a nurse on-call available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Indian River County Health Department has two servicing locations.  Our main site offers primary care services for adults and children, women's health, family planning, dental, WIC, TLC Newborn Program, chronic disease prevention program, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), epidemiology, immunizations for adults, children and international travel, We Care Program, environmental health, and vital statistics (birth and death certificates).  Our satellite office, Gifford Health Center, offers primary care services for adults and children 3 and older, women's health, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), eye clinic, immunizations for adults and children, Healthy Start Program, and houses the Indian River County Human Services office.  In addition to providing these daily services, IRCHD is required to respond in times of emergencies, such as working in a Special Needs Shelter during a hurricane, where staff assist people who have special medical needs.
