What are School
Health Services?
The Florida
Department of Health's School Health Services Program promotes student
health through prevention, early intervention, and treatment or referral
for acute or chronic health problems. The Florida Department of Health
manages the School Health Services Program in cooperation with the
Department of Education. With funding provided by the Florida
Department of Health, Indian River County Health Department School
Health staff are able to provide the following services for Indian River
County schools and students:

Immunization records review

Screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis

Height, weight, and body mass index measurements

Communicable disease control
-
Consultation for parents, principals, teachers, and students

Tobacco, alcohol and drug abuse prevention counseling

Health education

Home
visits

Community presentations

Health fairs

Volunteer coordination

Pregnancy prevention/abstinence programs
